EXAM POLICY
1. SCHEDULE
a. All 9th-12th grade exams will be given on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Please see the schedule above for specific information relating to day and time. Room assignments will be posted in the high school hallway. All 8th grade middle school students will also take a math semester exam on Monday at 9:50am during third and fourth hour.
b. Exams are 90 minutes in length. Students may not leave the room upon completion of their exam. Students should bring sufficient study materials to occupy the remainder of the time following completion of the exam. Students on campus at the start of each exam period must be in an exam or a designated study hall. Note: Students who arrive tardy will not be given additional time to complete the exam. Students wandering the high school hallway during exam times will be given a detention. Exam results will not be released until this detention is served.
c. Students who miss exams due to excused absences (illness) should be prepared to take their exams the following day at 12:00pm. Any student disrupting an exam will be sent out to Mr. Huisman and will only be allowed to complete the exam at his discretion.
d. Because of the complexity of the schedule, it is possible for a student to have a schedule with as many as three exams on one day and only one or none on another day. We have tried to be as fair as possible in designing the schedule and to minimize confusion by assigning all first period exams at one time, all second period exams at one time and so forth. Students are urged to be aware of their schedule and plan their study times well in advance. Exceptions to the established schedule will not be granted without the agreement of the instructor and principal. Only in RARE exceptions will students be allowed to switch exam days.
e. Students will not be allowed to use their cell phones during the exams, and they must be turned off. They can bring a water bottle into the exam room.
2. EXEMPTIONS
Students are eligible for exam exemptions under the following criteria:
Students in grades 11 - 12 may, with teacher approval, be exempt from their exam in any one course in which both quarter grades are an A. It is important to note that although a student may have an A in each quarter, the teacher may still require the student to take the exam. Students may not exempt the same subject exam second semester.
Exemption Request Deadline: Friday, December 12th. No exemptions will be given to students who do not turn in their request to the guidance counselor by 3:15 pm on this day. Forms are available in the guidance office.
3. EXAM RESULTS WITHHELD
a. Exam results will not be given to students who have library books overdue or owe library fines.
b. Exam results will not be given to students who have detentions that have not been served. Contact Mr. Huisman to make those arrangements.
c. Exam results will not be given to students who have financial obligations to the business office, their classes, or other school organizations.
4. POLICIES
a. No exams will be administered to students unless all general policies regarding exams and exam days are honored.
b. Exam days are to be regarded as regular school days in that all normal rules regarding behavior and dress are in effect. Students in violation of the dress code will not be permitted to take exams until they change. Students out of dress code that miss part of the exam time will not be given extra time to take the exam.
c. Students who do not have exams during any one of the exam periods do not need to come to school at that time, and may arrive in time for their next exam.
d. Any high school students who are on campus during the day are expected to be in an exam or in the designated study room. This includes students who finish exams at 11:35am or 1:45pm, but must wait for a ride. Wandering around campus or hallways, playing on the indoor or outdoor physical education facilities, sitting in cars in the parking areas, etc., will not be permitted. Students must be in their exams or a study room during their time at school. Once students have left campus, they are not to return during the rest of the day.
